This has been a great learning exercise for me. I could not imagine the wealth of information you can find on the internet. I was stuck on #7 and #8 and Amy Harmon encouraged me to keep trying and use my Photoworks website for this item and b/c of that I was able to keep going and able to finish the 23 things.
Checking out YouTube and Web 2.0 awards list was the most fun. I enjoyed playing with these particular websites. There were things that took too long and really didn’t interest me, like wikis and Remeber the Milk.
Digg.com and LibraryThing.com are the other two websites that I enjoyed working on. I like reading book reviews on LibraryThing.com. Cataloging my books didn’t interest me.
I want to thank my supervisor and my staff for allowing me to work on 23 things. I feel I have accomplished something that will help me to serve the public.

I read the article by Michael E. Casey and Laura Savastinuk from the Library Journal 9/1/2006 entitled “Library 2.0″.
Reading the article has helped me to understand the importance of technological advances within the library community. Library users have access to so much more information through library websites. We as staff need to know the new services that are available.
Through surveys and evaluations, the staff can tell what services and technologies the public want and need. Library 2.0 is a starting point for taking us into 21st century and beyond.

This was easier to do than I thought. My sons always tell about something they have seen on YouTube, so I emailed them something I thought was cute that I found on YouTube.
It was the video of the Death Star over San Francisco, it was just too funny.
I also believe you have to have too much time on your hands to continue to track posts on this site. I guess when I have extra time, I just go to bed early, ha, ha.

I had the most fun with Web 2.0 award list. What a great site. Dianna Trent and I had a good time exploring the different web sites. I will definitely use this site. It is quite informative.
After I googled what a widget was, I was able to make sense of what I suppose to do. I did manage my blog a little different with the help of a widget.

Signed up for “Remember the Milk” and invited two friends to check out the website. I would not bother using this website, didn’t like it.
Printed an 2009 calendar for use in the circ dept. Now I won’t have to buy one. There are a lot of useful things on the web that I am discovering through this process of 23 things. I might use them all, but it is nice to know what is going on with the web.

Really didn’t find this useful. It is something I would never use. I never share web site with friends or family. It seems too confusing to me. Just wasn’t interested.

I registered on the Digg website. It was easier to read than the Newsvine web. I will definitely use this website for the national news and opinions.
Registered on the Facebook website. I feel like a teenager!!! Why do I need Friends anyway, ha, ha. !!!

Spoke with Amy H. and she mentioned that since I use Photoworks.com to store and send my pictures, it would count for #7 and #8. i’ve been using Photoworks a long time and use other sites to send photos to family and friends.

#12 Wikis are fun, and I know the CSD dept. at Lee uses one to communicate ideas, request orders, and assorted misc info. It seems like any easier way to keep track of ideas instead of emails.
#13 Technorati is another blog search engine, the only things it seems to get boring reading all the info. Sometimes I’d rather listen to info on the TV magazine shows and news programs.
#14 My Map on Google requires a download and I really don’t want to download anything on my work computer, but I have use this on my home computer with my son’s help. I really like Google maps.

I did this part of list on July 26, and listed another blog today. I am getting more comfortable with the project but it is time consuming.
